What we do

We are responsible for creating an enabling environment for successful events and filming in Cape Town.

We provide a range of services for clients including event permitting, financial support to events, project management of events and assistance to clients during the permit application process.

Our staff ensure that events meet the regulatory requirements and facilitate the necessary services such as traffic, health, safety and environmental services.

We also provide support for permit applications for filming on public roads and City-owned facilities.

Events Planning Unit
We coordinate the three-year event plan that outlines how we respond to strategic issues in the City, such as seasonality, geographical spread, inclusivity, destination promotion and tourism arrivals. We achieve this through engaging with stakeholders; managing the financial support processes; negotiating rights packages; reviewing internal systems, adhering to policies and by-laws; and offering resource planning to support the events programme.

Film and Events Permitting Unit
We assist and coordinate the application and approval process for staging events and film shoots in Cape Town. We consult with affected City service departments and other stakeholders and evaluate each application in accordance with the City’s strategic objectives and legal and operational requirements.

Events Management Unit
We conceptualise, initiate, support and implement a variety of the City’s corporate events and provide an event management service for all City-partnered events.
